Energys Group is urging maintained schools to take advantage of £15 million of funding for energy efficiency projects made available through Salix and the Department for Education.

The £15M of funds is the remainder of a £25M pot of cash launched in 2018 – specifically for use by maintained schools looking to install energy efficiency measures – including upgrades to LED lighting.

The aim of the fund is to support schools who are looking to lower their energy bills, reduce emissions and create a more comfortable learning and working environment for both pupils and staff.

Since the launch of the fund, £10m has been allocated to over 200* maintained schools across England.

Funding is available for the following types of maintained school: community, voluntary aided, voluntary controlled, foundation, local authority owned nurseries, PRU and special schools.

Schools thinking of undertaking any energy efficiency projects for implementation over the Christmas period, applications will need to be submitted by Friday 8th December 2019.

Kevin Cox, Managing Director of Energys Group says Salix funding provides a great opportunity for maintained schools to invest in the latest energy efficient lighting technologies without the usual financial risk.

“Anyone who needs more information in order to understand the process of applying for an interest-free loan through Salix should consider turning to a specialist organisation such as Energys for advice,” concludes Kevin Cox.
