Councils must take the lead on the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO) if the strategies are to succeed, a report suggests, writes LocalGov.
While the Government intends its energy efficiency policies to be market led, the role played by the public sector – and primarily local government – will mean the difference between success and failure, a study by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) claims.
Despite being integral to the success of the Green Deal and ECO however, local authorities are not giving enough attention to energy efficiency, APSE warned.
